Black Catholic Ministry

The Black Catholic Ministry Group (BCMG) has been a steward for Holy Family Catholic Church for twenty (20) years. The group was founded in 1995. The Mission of BCMG is: To Encourage Unity in our Parish through worship, service and cultural enlightenment.

The Black Catholic Ministry Group normally meets every other month to discuss both Old and New Business. During their twenty (20) years of service, they have supported Holy Family Church by providing volunteers for the Building Fund, Valentine’s Day Dance, and Annual Fall Festival.

The Black Catholic Ministry Group normally sponsors fundraising events to support their organization by hosting Zydeco Dances, crawfish boils, selling cookbooks and Casino Bus Trips.  The funds generated from these events and support from their members allows them to donate to the Capital Campaign Fund, sponsor needy families during Thanksgivings and Christmas, Career Day for Middle and High School students, purchasing Bibles for CCE students and their annual Black History Program.  The fundraisers also allowed BCMG to donate the Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus bust that currently sits in the Centennial Room.

The Black Catholic Ministry Group are also proud of the fact that their members also volunteer to support other volunteer groups at Holy Family Church such as the Gospel Choir, Catholic Daughters, Parish Council, Knights of Columbus, CCE Catechists, Altar servers, and Lectors.
